Adding a Merchant
Use the Add Merchant feature to set up new merchants with both Card-Present (CP) and Card-Not-Present (CNP) Payment Gateway accounts. When you add a new merchant, you are required to enter the following:
Sales information
Business information
Owner/principal information
Processor information
To add a merchant:
Step 1 From the Tools menu, click Add Merchant.
Step 2 Complete the Sales Information fields.

Reference ID
A Reference ID for the new merchant. This ID is unique and for your record-keeping only; it is not used or maintained by Authorize.Net.
Note We recommend that you enter the backend merchant ID or merchant’s acquirer MID as the Reference ID.

Sales Rep ID
The ID of the Sales Representative.
Optional.
Market Type
The merchant’s business model:
eCommerce: The merchant sells products or services by means of a web site.
MOTO: The merchant sells products or services using a mail order/telephone order (MOTO) call center.
Retail: The merchant sells products or services on site at a retail location or using a mobile device.
If you are setting up a card-present account, the market type will already appear here.
Required.
Sales Profile
The sales profile that the merchant will be using.
Required.
Step 3 Review the Services section.
a Review and edit services.
b Review or edit merchant-level fraud filters.
If you want to edit a setting specific to the merchant, in each of the five filter areas, select an action from the drop-down menu. This action will be taken whenever a transaction is caught by the filter. Some areas have text fields where you can enter a number of transactions.
The first time the merchant logs in to their Authorize.Net account, they will see a popup of Account Configuration Steps. Included among those steps is “Configuring Fraud Settings - review the settings which protect your business.” This alerts the merchant that defaults have been set for them, and enables them to review and adjust these settings.

Step 4 Enter the owner/principal information. If you are using the same address as the business, check the Use Business Address box.

The ZIP code in which the owner resides. If adding a non-US address, enter the postal code or postcode.

Be sure to enter the correct email address for the merchant. Authorize.Net will send the merchant’s welcome email with the account activation code to this
email address. Therefore, an invalid or incorrect email address will delay the merchant’s activation process. If an invalid or incorrect email address is entered, you must correct the email address on the General page of the merchant's account.
Step 5 Enter the processor information.
Options are determined by selections that you made during sign up. Options usually include merchant number and Terminal ID (TID).

Step 6 Verify that the information you have provided is correct, and click Save.
 
Setting Merchant-Level Default Filters
While the default filter rules set in the Advanced Fraud Detection Suite (AFDS) Settings section apply to all merchants, you can override them at the level of a single merchant during the Add Merchant workflow.
To set fraud filters for a single merchant:
Step 1 Navigate to Tools > Add Merchant.
Step 2 In the Services section, expand the plus sign (+) marked Fraud Detection Suite.
Step 3 Review the default fraud settings. If you want to edit a setting specific to the merchant, in each of the five filter areas, select an action from the drop-down menu. This action will be taken whenever a transaction is caught by the filter. Some areas have text fields where you can enter a number of transactions.
Understanding the Merchant’s Experience
